Obesity
Obesity is the forerunner of various other health issues, including diabetes, high cholesterol levels, arthritis, hypertension, Ischemic heart disease, stroke, malignancy, etc.
However, working on obesity is not a simple formula of eating less and exercising more. Other factors in the background often make it difficult to either lose weight or to maintain the appropriate weight. These include:
- Faulty lifestyles that may include a lack of exercise or poor dietary habits
- Low mood states that don’t motivate the person to correct the faulty lifestyles
- Severe anxieties, clinical depression that affects eating habits, and/or affects the body’s metabolism.
This often expresses itself as either a resistance towards losing weight or a tendency for the obesity to rebound after a certain period of time. These patients, hence, need counselling and guided yoga practices more than just dietary or lifestyle planning.
